Do we have to curb our desires?

It depends on what you want. If you want money and you decide to rob a bank, you have to decide whether you must curb that desire or not.

As far as Spiritual Realization is concerned desires are irrelevant. Except the desire to uncover Truth. Because desire has energy in it and energy can make things move. If we pay attention to what the pointers are pointing at that can move energy in the direction of recognizing the false and realizing Truth.

In Spiritual Realization, there is no compulsion to satisfy desires. Just as Nisargadatta put it. If we can satisfy them, great. We enjoy them. If we can’t, no waves are raised and our peace remains undisturbed. That is the essence of Pure Acceptance.
