What do you mean by heaven, hell and purgatory?
Those are esoteric symbols. Hell is the state where the ego (false personality) is active and runs our lives. It is a state full of psychological suffering, uneasiness, and restlessness. Heaven is our natural state of peace and absolute acceptance. Purgatory is the mental-emotional process we go through on the path from hell to heaven; it may take the form of “spiritual/psychological work”.
Tarot of Marseilles describes that process in detail and provides insight as to what to pay attention to at the step we find ourselves along the way.
Some psychological teachings, when they mention heaven, they state that you will get there one day. That may be encouraging earlier on the path in order to gather strength. However, you will not get there. There is no “you” who gets anywhere. And heaven is not “there”; it is not “here” either. It is Omnipresence, just like the original teaching of Jesus states too.
Heaven is not the state when “we” are present. Such an idea perpetuates the notion of a self that is unenlightened or asleep and that can awaken or become enlightened. It is all notional. Stepping-stones at best.
Heaven is not fireworks or excitement or metaphysical powers and visions or encounters with angels; it is not higher-centers.
Heaven is the calm of being. It is a state of being where there is an absence of identification with an image of self and the fear and all of the imaginary concerns for its integrity that it implies. Heaven is Consciousness without any qualifications. And no one and nothing exists apart from it. It is not a special state. It is utter Simplicity thus it is also called the Natural State.
