Are we the un-manifested and the ego part of the manifested?
We are the un-manifested and we are the manifested. There is no actual division between the un-manifested and the manifested. Those terms are notional distinctions to attempt to describe what cannot be described. The ego, plus anything you can think of, describe or feel, are part of the manifested, certainly.
As pointers to the end of suffering the only thing that matters is that there is a dimension of the ego that creates unnecessary suffering and produces an experience of restlessness and incompleteness due to an imitated and repeated misperception of separation, which is concurrent with an imaginary picture of self. The physical realm itself has a strong impact on that experience because of the presence of discreet bodies and objects which can reinforce the feeling of separateness. So, looking sharply beyond the physical is a must.
Just beyond that feeling of separateness, not hidden in some occult dimension or behind some miraculous understanding, is the simplicity of being and peace of What We Are.
